SmugMug on Batman and WordPress
SmugMug is a photo hosting service targeted towards professionals, and a shining example of how a Valley company can survive (and make a profit) without funding and without completely littering their site with ads. They just released a new “SmugMungous” feature that scales photos up when your browser window is bigger — looks fantastic, and doesn’t use Flash!
But what I thought was really awesome was the “Runs on” line at the bottom of all their blogs:
[blog name] uses WordPress, just like Batman would if he blogged.
That made me smile.

SmugMug is a great service, and it’s safe to say that they target more than just professionals with their clean experience focused on the photos and not a social networking experience — just the photos for your friends and family.
There are big fans of super heroes, and sound like super heroes themselves — real people. It’s interesting that all of their employees where customers first.
It’s got to sting a little that they can’t handle the attention today, “We’re having some temporary difficulties. We expect full service to resume shortly. Sorry!”

I’ve always thought there was some connection between Batman and WP:

Doh. Hopefully it’ll translate to more memberships and make it A Good Problem to Have™.

After used smugmug for over a year, I really like it. Especially the viewing and album password protection.

The greatest superhero ever is Batman. I have been a Batman fan for the last 30+ years and even built a web site with every type of Batman collectible out there.
