man, the first thing I think of when I see ‘Bob Barr’ is ‘Bob Barker’ of Price is Right fame.
But cool–open comments? That’s not normal for a presidential candidate–I thought they were supposed to be not accessible to the people–how cool is that!

Hello, guy I share my family name with (Nathan Diehl):
“That’s not normal for a presidential candidate–I thought they were supposed to be not accessible to the people”

Well, he’s the libertarian candidate, so it would be odd not to be open to the people that way. ‘Cause that’s what libertarianism is about (often very close to anarchism, even).

BTW, I duuno what that logo to the left of my name is, but as a German I feel slightly uncomfortable to be labeled by it. It bears loose resemblance to a swastika (my guess is, that’s the Indian sign the swastika was based off).

No offense, but Bob Barr is captain ploppy pants in my not so humble estimation. A hypocrite and would have the US up on the auction block before you could say, Bo Diddley. WP should hide from this association, I know I’d would.

Don’t you think he is a little late for the game?

  8. James said, on May 13th, 2008 at 3:22 pm

Sunny… he’s not running as a Republican or a Democrat so he is not “late for the game”… in fact he’s right on time as there isn’t really a Libertarian Primary schedule and both the major parties are just now entering the general election cycle.

Mary… what gives you that idea?

It’s kind of interesting that the same people who designed Ron Paul’s website also designed Bob Barr’s. I wonder if the Paul campaign recommended them to the Barr campaign.

It’s programmatically generated from a hash of your e-mail address… so it’s effectively random. Go sign up for a Gravatar to specify the image you want (on this site, and others).

WP should hide from this association

Whatever your political principles or associations, I think it’s cool that so many candidates are embracing social media — especially when they use WordPress. And Barr’s site has open comments (i.e. no registration) which is more of a wholehearted embrace of the open spirit of the Internet that I’ve seen any other candidate take, so I think it’s noteworthy.

Len, I wondered the same thing.

Am I the only person who saw “Bob Barr” and thought of Mr Incredible?

re: shadaik and the unfortunate swastika looking thingie.

This website is using a icon generator that builds a geometric avatar for people who don’t use gravatar based off of your email address. Hopefully it is random. I wonder if any other users with a german ISP/email addy have seen any thing unusual for their avatar?

As for Bob Barr… The party already has my vote. I was hoping Paul would slide on over but looks like he wants on a republican ticket.

Ah yes, Bob Barr of “Get Them Damn Witches Out of the Military,” and “Taxpayer-Funded Witchcraft Begone” fame.

I just noticed that his blog used WP 2.3.3. I wonder if this will end as another famous site using WordPress that gets hacked.

    Very interesting!

I’d like to see how far he goes and how well the word will get out.

The question is whether he will take more votes off Obama or McCain. I’m guessing the latter, since Republicans are questioning his “conservative credentials” whatever the hell that means.

His website looks a ton like Ron Paul’s website, FWIW.
